Fenrir Realm — Terms of Service

Effective date: 26 July 2025

Welcome to Fenrir Realm ("Fenrir Realm", "we", "us", "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Fenrir Realm website, sub‑domains, mobile site (if any) and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using any part of the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

Notice of informal status — Fenrir Realm is an unincorporated collaborative project operated by two individual owners resident in India and the Philippines. We are not a registered company. All agreements herein are personal contracts between you and the owners.

1. Eligibility & Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or upload content on the Service. If you are under the age of 18, you represent and warrant that you have obtained verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service. We reserve the right to request proof of such consent at any time and may suspend or terminate your account if such proof is not provided upon request. Use of the Service in violation of this section will result in account termination and may result in additional legal consequences where required by law.

2. Account Registration & Security

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating and maintaining your account and to promptly update any information as necessary. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity conducted through your account, whether or not authorized by you. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information, or that are believed to be compromised or involved in suspicious activity.

3. Ownership of Content

3.1 Authors – Original Works

Authors retain 100 % copyright in their original web‑novels and related materials. By posting such works, you grant Fenrir Realm a worldwide, non‑exclusive, royalty‑free license to host, cache, display, and distribute the content through the Service for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform. This license ends when the content is removed from the platform by the author.

3.2 Translators – Fan Translations

Fan translators acknowledge that the underlying works are copyrighted by third parties. Translators grant Fenrir Realm the same limited license described in 3.1 and represent that their translation either:

  • is authorized by the original copyright owner; or
  • is being shared under fair‑use, non‑commercial, or otherwise lawful purposes.

Fan translations may be monetized through the platform's features. However, upon receipt of a valid DMCA notice, cease‑and‑desist request, or any reasonable claim of copyright infringement, the content will be taken down permanently. Re‑uploads of removed content are not allowed.

3.3 User Representations

You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to upload the content you share, and that your content does not infringe any third‑party rights or violate any laws. If any claim arises regarding the legality or ownership of your content, Fenrir Realm reserves the right to remove it without notice.

4. Monetisation – Rune System

Readers may purchase digital "Runes" (minimum bundle US $5) via PayPal to unlock premium chapters.

4.1 Revenue Share

Creators receive a percentage of gross Rune sales as communicated individually during onboarding. Fenrir Realm retains the remainder to cover hosting and operational costs.

4.2 Payout Schedule

Payout timing, method, and any minimum‑balance requirements are explained to creators during onboarding and may be adjusted with at least 14 days' notice to affected creators. We may request payout and/or tax‑identification information and may withhold or delay payouts until such information is provided. We may offset payment‑processor dispute fees against your Rune or payout balances.

You are responsible for any PayPal receiving fees or currency‑conversion charges.

4.3 PayPal Policy & Liability

By using the monetisation features of Fenrir Realm, you also agree to be bound by PayPal's Terms of Service. All monetary transactions are processed by PayPal, and Fenrir Realm shall not be liable for:

  • any failed, delayed, or disputed transactions;
  • loss or damage resulting from errant or invalid payments processed with your PayPal account; or
  • any other issue occurring within PayPal's system.

4.4 Incorrect or Failed Payouts

If your payment fails due to incorrect or outdated PayPal information:

  • We are not responsible for recovering funds if the transaction cannot be reversed.
  • If the funds are returned to us, we will reprocess the payout within 5–10 business days, provided you have updated your payment information.
  • You are solely responsible for keeping your payout details accurate and up to date.

4.5 External Monetisation

Authors and Translators may accept donations or support through third‑party platforms such as Ko‑fi or Patreon. Payments made on those platforms will not unlock any content on Fenrir Realm. However, at the content owner's discretion, purchases made on Fenrir Realm (such as unlocking a certain number of chapters) may be used to claim benefits on third‑party platforms, provided that: (a) the cross‑platform benefit is clearly disclosed on the relevant series page; and (b) such external perks are fulfilled by the content owner, not Fenrir Realm. Fenrir Realm is not responsible for any third‑party perks, delays, or non‑delivery, and we may disallow or revoke any cross‑platform promotion that we believe is confusing, misleading, or risky.

4.6 Refunds & Charge‑Backs

  • Rune‑only refunds: If a technical error or service issue results in the loss of Runes from your account, we will restore the missing Runes after a brief verification. Refunds are issued only in Runes, not in cash.
  • No cash refunds: Purchases of Runes are non‑refundable in fiat currency.
  • Charge‑backs: Initiating a PayPal or card charge‑back for a Rune purchase may result in temporary suspension of your account. We may deduct from your Rune balance, payout balance, or future payouts an amount equal to the disputed transaction and any payment‑processor dispute fees. If the charge‑back is withdrawn within 15 days, we may restore access at our discretion.

5. Prohibited Conduct

To help keep Fenrir Realm safe and fair for everyone, you agree not to:

  1. Post content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate for a shared creative space;
  2. Violate any applicable law or regulation, including copyright laws;
  3. Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security features, access restrictions, or monetisation systems (such as locked chapters);
  4. Use bots, scripts, or automated systems in a way that imposes an unreasonable or disruptive load on our servers; or
  5. Engage in behavior that—at our reasonable discretion—harms or threatens to harm other users, creators, or the operation of the platform.

6. DMCA & Copyright Takedown Policy

Fenrir Realm respects the intellectual property rights of others and complies with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). If you believe that content hosted on our platform infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice by emailing us at contact@fenrirealm.com.

To be considered valid under the DMCA, your notice must include the elements described in 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), including:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work;
  • Identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location;
  • Your contact information;
  • A statement that you have a good‑faith belief that the use is unauthorized;
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf; and
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Upon receiving a valid notice, we will act promptly to remove or disable access to the reported content. Repeat infringement or failure to comply with takedown notices may result in account suspension.

We also accept legitimate cease‑and‑desist requests from copyright holders, even outside the U.S., and we treat them with the same seriousness.

7. Fees & Payment Processing

All purchases on Fenrir Realm are currently processed through PayPal. By using the Service, you also agree to PayPal's User Agreement and Privacy Policy. Fenrir Realm is not responsible for any issues arising from your use of PayPal.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, remove content, or restrict access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms, applicable law, or if doing so is necessary to protect our users, creators, or platform. We may also remove accounts or content that receive valid legal takedown notices or repeated complaints.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Fenrir Realm is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees about uptime, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Fenrir Realm and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or profits. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed US $100.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Fenrir Realm, its owners, and any volunteers from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

12. Force Majeure

We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil disturbance, labour disputes, Internet or utility failures, or payment‑processor outages.

13. Severability & No Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.

14. Liability to User Content

You are solely responsible for the content you post. If your content is found to violate copyright, law, or these Terms, we may remove it. We do not monitor all uploads but will act on reports or legal notices when required.

15. Governing Law & Venue

These Terms are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict‑of‑law principles. You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California for the resolution of any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms.

16. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will announce them at least 30 days in advance via the platform or email. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you agree to the updated Terms.
